This bear family group was collected by Consul-General Emil Heilborn in Russian Karelia around 1908. It arrived in Stockholm with the Heilborn family in 1915. However, when and why it came to the Biological Museum remains obscure. The animals were mounted according to the anthropomorphic view of animals typical of that time — no bear mother in the wild ever posed like this one!
